Gluten – a Major Health Risk
No matter how hard we try to avoid it, gluten is present in almost any food we eat. It’s in that tasty piece of pizza, that cold can of beer, and in the bread we eat every day.
Too much gluten can seriously ravage your system and with gluten intolerance being a serious problem nowadays, it’s best to stay away from it.
There are many gluten-free diets that can eliminate gluten from your life. However, there’s a simpler way to neutralize gluten’s negative effects on our health – gluten-free bread.
Bread is the staple of every household. We eat it every day being fully aware of its harmful effects. It’s probably the biggest culprit for the ever-growing rates of gluten intolerance.
According to experts, even people who aren’t suffering from celiac disease are affected by gluten.
Dr. Steven Gundry has been trying to make the public aware of the dangers of lectins.
Lectins are a plant-based protein (of which gluten is one type) that can cause serious damage to your stomach and digestive system when ingested.
The loaves of bread we eat are full of the protein which is why Dr. Gundry recommends staying away from it.
The problem is that those healthy types of bread are not exactly tasty. But, it doesn’t have to be that way.
Dr. Gundry has shared a super bread recipe you can easily make at home that is completely gluten-free and tasty at the same time.
The so-called Barely Bread is based on almond butter and flour as well as coconut oil. A piece of this bread has around 3 gr. of protein, which is just about the same as a piece of whole wheat bread.
It’s a perfect substitute in terms of nutritional value if you’re trying to cut gluten from your diet. We’re not saying that you should cut out whole grains from your diet completely.
According to studies, they decrease the risk of cardiovascular disease and are great for our digestion. But, if you want to cut gluten from your diet, Barely Bread can help. Of course, we strongly suggest consulting with your doctor before making any radical dietary changes.
Barely Bread Recipe
*1 tablespoon flaxseeds
*2 cups almond flour
*1 tablespoon baking soda
*½ teaspoon salt
*1 tablespoon ground flaxseeds
*½ cup cornstarch
*1 tablespoon ACV
*6 tablespoons butter
*½ cup Greek yogurt
Separate the dry ingredients and mix them with the flaxseeds. Next, melt the butter on low heat, then add the dry mix and other ingredients to it while stirring with a spatula.
Keep the texture of the dough elastic – mixing it too much can make it too firm. Put the dough on a baking pan lined with paper, then sprinkle some flaxseeds over it. Bake it at 175 degrees for around half an hour. Use a toothpick to poke it and see when it’s well done.
Once it cools down, keep the loaf of Barely Bread in a ziplock bag to keep it fresh.
